Highlights of the DECOM-2025 Oil and Gas Discussion Forum

From September 8 to 10, 2025, the annual Oil and Gas Discussion Forum DECOM-2025 took place in Kazan — an event that has already become a true tradition for professionals in the oil and gas industry.

The Forum brought together more than 620 participants representing over 20 companies and 3 leading universities, with 195 participants attending in person.

The program included 10 technological Forum Sessions, hosted by organizations such as Gazprom Neft Group, Tatneft PJSC, Polykod LLC, Sofoil LLC, VK Tech, and NGDU Surgutneft (Surgutneftegas PJSC).

Each day, companies presented new technologies through Club Sessions featuring technical talks and master classes, as well as exhibitions showcasing their products and services. Over three days, participants attended 58 presentations totaling 28 hours of content.

One of the key events of the Forum is the annual PetroCup Well and Reservoir Management Tournament, where top teams from oil and gas companies, industry research and design institutes, and leading universities compete for the title.

The PetroCup Tournament results at DECOM-2025 were as follows:

• 🥇 1st place – Archean Team (Tatneft PJSC)
• 🥈 2nd place – Paleozoic Team (Tatneft PJSC)
• 🥉 3rd place – Phanerozoic Team (Gazprom Neft Group)

As part of an established tradition, the Prime Bot, an AI-based innovation developed by Polykod, also participated as a separate team. The bot is currently undergoing active testing in various PetroCup tournaments for subsoil user teams.

Another highlight of the Forum was the opening of two University Houses — the ASTU PHS House and the KFU House.

The concept behind these “Organization Houses” is to create cozy and friendly spaces where participants can meet colleagues — past and present — and connect with alumni of their home universities. On September 10, at the KFU House, a cooperation agreement was signed between Nafta College and Kazan Federal University, expressing a special intention to develop the Kazan Geological Museum.

The organizers are already looking forward to meeting participants next year to continue discussing the most relevant trends and challenges in the oil and gas industry.
